Twelve and Not Stupid

From the story that I had read is “Twelve and not stupid” by Zuraidah Omar, this story about a family. There’s have daughther, father and mother also have someone else, that is Aunty May. This story begin from his daughther just got back from school and she wait until her father to pick up her. Then, and that day, her father didn’t pick up her as usual, so she thought that her father just forgotten to pick her. Suddenly, she saw her father’s car coming up the road and stop beside her. She jump into front seat as well as she do so, then she notice that someone else already there. So she move at the back seat and seat properly. She didn’t know who is that woman, her age is same age like her mother and she looks a like her mother but the different between her mother and that woman is her mother Malay but that woman is Chinese.Her name is Aunty May. Suddenly Aunty May said hello to her and she shocked because Aunty May know her name and she introduced who is she. But she just not saying any word and she staring at her. Her father know that she thinking something bad about that woman, then her father said to her to not be rude and salam Aunty May. After that, her father just talking with Aunty May in lower voices. She confused what was her father talk about with Aunty May. She was slept at the back, when she woke up she find that the car stopped but they are not at home. They in parked outside a one-story terrace house and Aunty May gets out from the car then her father just drives off. Her father asked her to not tell her mother about Aunty May, she want to ask her father why she can’t tell her mother about Aunty May but when she look at her father face she didn’t dare to do that. So she just nod her head. When she arrive at home, she saw her mother comes out and she think her mother will asking her why she going back home late then she must lie her mother because her father asked her to do that. Firstly her mother asked her father why when she called at his office, his secretary told that he were out since morning, then her father said he had some outside work. So her mother turns her attention back to her daughter, she said that she doesn’t want this will be happen again.Then after been weeks and there has been no Aunty May in her father’s car, she not asked anything about Aunty May to her father. One night, while she reading a book, her mother interrupted her and asked her to take a bath and dressed because her father will be home soon and they will going out for dinner. When they arrived at the restaurant she saw that Aunty May already seated at the table, what was going out this, she talking slowly. Aunty May with a boy who looks like he’s about ten years old. She don’t know what to do and say so she shall pretend that she haven’t met Aunty May before because her mother will wonder why and will find out bout the lie she told to her mother many weeks ago. She feel so grateful because Aunty May not given any indicition that both of them have met before. Then they all sit down and orderthe food. While they are eat and she listen to adults talking, they talk about Kassim. Her father tell to her mother that Aunty May was called her some weeks ago. As a story, Aunty May have family problem, so because of that Aunty May meet her father to story about that. After they all finish talk about that, her father offers them a lift back to their house then arrived at Aunty May’s house, Aunty May said thanks to her mother and father for the dinner and both of them willingness to help Aunty May.
